Giovana Töws' drawing enters the Antwerp Golden Book tradition
In November 2025, artist Giovana Töws was selected by the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp to create an original drawing for the Antwerp Golden Book, a historic ceremonial guest book dedicated to commemorating official visits by distinguished international guests.
On the occasion of the official visit of the Ambassador of Switzerland, Jacques Pitteloud, Töws was invited to produce a series of drawings honouring Switzerland and its cultural identity. The selected work was formally presented, framed, and offered to the Ambassador as an official diplomatic gift. A second version was incorporated into the Golden Book and signed by the distinguished guest during the ceremony.

The Golden Book tradition preserves the memory of important civic and diplomatic visits through signatures, commemorative inscriptions, and specially commissioned artworks, creating a lasting historical record of these occasions. Similar Golden Books have long been maintained by Belgian public institutions and cities to document visits by ambassadors, heads of state, members of royal families, and other dignitaries.
The sketches as well of as the final drawing were made on A5 format (14,85 x 21cm) with dry pastels on paper.
