Anatomical drawing published in academic catalogue
In 2026, an anatomical drawing by Giovana Töws was selected for publication in the catalogue Drawing: The Obje(a)ct – The Act of Drawing as Deep Observation, edited by Joachim De Block and produced in conjunction with the 32nd AEIMS Conference and the 5th Vesalius Continuum Triennial, hosted by the University of Antwerp.
The publication presents a selection of anatomical studies created by students of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp and examines drawing as a method of observation, analysis, and knowledge acquisition within anatomy education.
Töws' contribution consists of a life-sized observational study of a human skeleton, executed in charcoal on paper (180 × 100 cm). The drawing was produced through direct observation of a skeletal model as part of the Anatomy programme at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, investigating the relationship between artistic practice, anatomical knowledge, and embodied learning.
